About Tombs

The people, judgement and relationships behind Tombs

Tombs Developments was established in 2005 by Iain Tomb and Dom Cook. Their long-standing partnership brings together hands-on site leadership, surveying experience and trusted local trades to manage residential projects with care from early decisions through to completion.

The people behind Tombs Developments

Tombs Developments was established in 2005 by Iain Tomb and Dom Cook. More than 20 years on, the company is still shaped by the same working relationship and direct involvement from both directors.

Their partnership goes back even further. Iain and Dom first met at Pate’s Grammar School when they were 11, and that long-standing trust carries into how the company runs projects today.

Dom brings hands-on building experience, strong site leadership and the ability to manage people well on site. Iain brings the perspective of a former Chartered Surveyor, with a close eye for detail and experience across projects from smaller works to multi-million-pound contracts.

Together, they give clients practical building knowledge, careful oversight and trusted local contacts. That helps Tombs manage decisions properly, solve problems early and keep attention on the quality of the finished home.

Our approach

How Tombs keeps projects moving properly

Good residential building work depends on more than the quality of the trades. It needs clear responsibility, practical judgement and the confidence to deal with decisions before they become problems.

Discuss your project
  1. Direct responsibility

Iain and Dom stay closely involved, giving clients clear points of contact and making sure decisions are handled by people who understand the project properly.

  2. Practical judgement

Every project brings choices around sequencing, materials, budget and finish. Tombs brings experience to those decisions early, so the work can move forward with fewer surprises.

  3. Trusted local trades

The company works with a network of reliable tradespeople who understand the standard expected, especially on homes where the detail and finish need careful attention.

  4. Care in the finished result

The aim is not just to complete the build, but to protect the quality of the home as it comes together, from the larger structural decisions through to the details people live with every day.

National recognition for the next generation

Amy Brown’s development with Tombs has become part of the company’s story. In 2023, Amy won The Amazon Intermediate Apprentice of the Year Award at The Apprenticeship National Awards, recognising the dedication and standard she has shown while learning her trade.

Following the award, Amy was invited to Downing Street and joined an elite group of national winners. For Tombs, it was a proud moment for Amy and for the wider team around her.

Her story reflects something important about the way Tombs works: skill is developed on site, standards are passed on properly, and the people involved in each project are expected to care about the work in front of them.

Services

What we build

Tombs works on residential projects where the detail, sequencing and quality of the finish need careful control. From new homes to complex renovations, the focus is on managing the right people, decisions and practical details throughout the build.

Testimonials

Trusted by clients who value the detail

For private residential projects, the standard of the finished work is only part of the measure. Clients also need clear judgement, careful communication and confidence that the detail is being protected throughout the build.
